Responses to each survey song are collected via standardized test measures and compared to statistical “norms” for previously-tested songs and to results for those released as singles. These metrics are at the heart of AI’s data analysis and reports.
AI offers two proven survey methodologies, designed to fit the requirements and budgets of all segments of the music-making community. The following graph shows Hot-100 Singles Chart Penetration for 784 MusicLovers Pro (formerly Record Test Online) songs released as singles by major labels, grouped by their Index score range. This graphic analysis shows that releases with higher MusicLovers Pro Index (9+) were most likely to become successful singles: almost half entered the Top-30, 4-in-10 reached the Top-20 and 1-in-3 became Top-10, Hot-100 hits. While top-scoring hits from Indies with limited marketing resources would not be expected to achieve such remarkable frequencies of top-chart penetration, these historical results strongly suggest that expenditures for such well-liked songs will effectively stimulate market potential.*
As visionary clients at the major labels have known for over three decades, the Record Test Online (now MusicLovers Pro) survey offers comprehensive and “actionable” audience-based information for professional music creators, producers and marketers.
Results include the overall Index (1-12), Format Scores (1-4) and levels of audience acceptance and market potential in each format, shown in easy-to-understand graphs and symbols.
* The AI Mentors program also helps assure promising Indies that they will gain attention from potential career boosters.
